Meet the all new jaw droppingly stunning Áspero-5. This is a bike that doesn't need talking up because it takes care of that all by itself. But let us tell you this, the Áspero-5 looks fast standing still and in the cycling world we all know that if it looks fast it sure as hell is fast. Taking everything Cérvelo have learned from their rich heritage on the road, they've created a new type of bike that allows you to experience a new type of riding away from the hussle of busy roads and submerge into trail bliss. Cyclists are demanding more from the time they spend out on their bike and lighting up the gravel path has quickly become a popular way to avoid traffic filled roads and agitated drivers. The Áspero comes into its own with what Cérvelo have called the "TrailMixer" front fork design, it allows you to run both 650b and 700c wheels meaning you have one bike for riding on and off the road. This edition of the Áspero has been kitted out with a SRAM Force eTap AXS groupset and a high performance finishing kit. So get ready to try out something new, leaving the dodgy British roads behind you and heading straight for the beaten track.
The Aspero 5
Flat out is how Áspero debuted under the characters of the Wednesday Night Rough Club two years ago, and that’s how it’s stayed. And since, at Cervélo, they know that flat out doesn’t stay flat out for long without a little help from science, they've come back from the drawing board with a new Áspero. A faster Áspero, a lighter Áspero, and dare we say it an even better looking Áspero. Cervélo's engineers like to say, "If it looks fast, it probably is" but there’s some truth to it, and Áspero-5 looks fast standing still. No cables in the wind, tubes derived from our library of aerodynamically proven shapes, and just a hint of a cut out in the seat tube to squeak out just a bit more tyre clearance, add up to a bike that proves the adage.
Explore The Trail And Your Limits
Cérvelo's Áspero is not simply designed for pottering around the family off-road cycle routes whilst enjoying some friendly conversation whilst you catch up with an old friend. The Áspero redefines riding on the beaten path, as rocks fly up behind your rear tyre and any sight of you is lost in a cloud of gravel dust. Cérvelo has taken their road race-winning frame and stripped it down, building it back up again to outperform any traditional gravel bike made before it. The frame finds the perfect blend of hill climb smashing weight advantages and rugged durability to deal with anything that off-road cycling has to throw at it. It also remains aero, as is Cérvelo's heritage, to ensure any KOM segments out the way of the road are appropriately dealt with.
Some might say aero doesn't matter on a gravel bike, but if you've battled a brutal headwind across the top of the South Downs, the 32 grams of drag you'll save with the new Aspero-5 comes as a welcome respite. Most gravel racing is done without the benefit of a World Tour peloton or even World Tour tactics and when it's your nose in the wind all day, it's nice to know your bikes shouldering some of the work-load.
