Cervélo's have developed quite the habit out of pushing the boundaries of bike design to create new segments which quickly become the norm. With the Caladonia, it seems they have done it again. This is a bike designed to bring the future closer, by offering more, without adding too much, at least in the way of mass. It's the ideal combination of Cervélo's classic R Series bikes with their groundbreaking Aspero gravel focused ride. This combination results in a package that ticks all the boxes. For long winter days in the saddle on testing roads, the integrated mounts for mudguards and lights will keep you safe and dry, without hindering the aero and aesthetics too much. If you want to tackle some light offroad or gravel then the dropped bottom bracket enables you to maintain stability when riding larger tyres. There is also the option to remove the front mech and run 1x if you prefer. Finally, If spring sportives or event crit racing are more your thing then the balance of handling, stiffness and lightweight will see you to the finish line.
The SRAM AXS electric groupset finishes off the bike perfectly, and event future proofs it With 12 speed, smooth and reliable shifting. Hydraulic disc breaks offer controlled braking in all conditions and ensure that whatever the terrain and whatever the weather you have all the confidence you need to ride hard and fast.
The Caledonia breaks the mould and stretches the limits as to what is possible within a road bike. The idea for such a bike was conceived on the Thursday night ride out at Cervelo HQ. These rides often saw the teams on routes which generally pushed the term "road ride" to the limit. Whilst trying to run bigger tyres on an R5, or streamline an Aspero the new concept emerged and they named it Caledonia. Capable of accommodating 34mm tyres (31 with guards) this is a modern race bike, which offers all the top end you could need in addition to comfort for the longer days in the saddle.
Like its predecessors, the Caledonia was designed and engineered from the ground up. However, with years of experience in the core competencies of "Aero" and "Stiffness to weight ratio" Cervélo has been able to pool learnings and piece together the best bits from their extensive library of tube shapes. The result is a masterpiece that's as ready to race the spring classics as is it ready to settle in for a long comfortable ride.
Inspired and Refined
By utilising standard shaped bars stem and seatpost this bike offers the opportunity for customisation without compromise. It has integrated mounts for accessories such as lights and a computer in addition to hidden mud guard mounts. This culminates in a clean design that is ready for any surface, in any conditions, at any time.
