Cervélo's all new and unique bike to hit the racing scene comes into a highly undercrowded market and is designed to bring the future closer, bringing where road bikes are heading to you now. Meet the Caledonia, the brand new ride everyone is talking about. It's the ideal combination of Cervélo's classic R range with their top notch gravel Aspero, creating a road bike that smoothes out the roughest of roads with the ability to take a tyre clearance of up to 34mm whilst maintaining an ultra light overall weight and aerodynamic design with Cervélo's well developed and renowned tube shaping. The result? The whole package for road riders and racers. Looking for long days in the saddle be that training rides or sportives, the Caledonia features integrated mounts for accessories such as mud guards and lights if the weather's not looking so great - all without impacting your aerodynamics. The Caledonia also features a dropped bottom bracket to maintain stability when riding with larger tyres. The front derailleur mount on the Caledonia is removable to allow for easy replacement when need be as well as being adaptable for when standards alter in the near future or if you'd simply like to ride a 1x system instead. This specific spec of the Caldenoia comes with a Shimaon 105 groupset, providing you with reliable and durable shifting throughout ride as you rack up the mileage. Hydraulic disc brakes have also been equipped so you're in full control at all times with superior stopping power at your finger tips, even when it's decided to start raining cats and dogs on you - the Caledonia is ready for anything.
Caledonia doesn’t fit in a box nicely, and Cervélo like it that way. It was conceived on their Thursday night rides -routes that often play fast and loose with ‘road ride.’ As they tried to stuff bigger tyres into their R5s and streamline their Asperos, a new kind of bike was born, the Caledonia. Modern road riders are looking for bikes to handle long distance, high pace, no limits and offer maximum fun. By placing lower modulus carbon in key areas to mitigate the brittleness of hi-mod fiber—the bike isn’t delicate. It is made for the way you ride and accommodates 34mm tires or 31mm with fenders.
When Cervélo design a bike, they start with our library of tube shapes. These shapes are shapes they’ve used on other models that they know to have various qualities—aerodynamic, stiff, ultralight, etc.—and they help get Cervélo to the refinement stage on a bike more quickly. In the case of Caledonia, Cervélo wanted durability, light weight, and aerodynamics to be in balance, and selected a package that achieved the performance demands of this kind of race bike.
Inspired & Refiend
Caledonia uses a standard round bar, stem and seat post, giving riders the option to build their ultimate ride without compromise. Integrated accessory mounts and hidden fender mounts keep the bike’s refined lines so you can ride with lights and computers in a downpour and still look fast. Because we all know if it looks fast, it probably is.
