Cervélo has designed their quirky brand new bike to stun the racing scene with a fresh ride entering a rather unpopulated market, taking the bikes of today to the next level. Introducing Cervélo's latest masterpiece, the Caledonia. The Caledonia is the newest ride everyone is raving about, taking a design that crosses their reliable and classic R range with the well renowned and loved Aspero to bring you a bikes that's fast on the roads as well as capable of taking a tyre width of up to 34mm to smooth out the worst of roads and cobbles to keep you comfortable when you're spending all day in the saddle. Cervélo kept the Caledonia both aerodynamic and ultra lightweight using their famous tube shaping technology, making their latest bike the entire package. Whether you're looking to ride long and grueling sportives or win the hill climb at the local club ride, the Caledonia has been designed to perform well in all areas. Featuring integrated mounts for mud guards and lights provides you with the ability to deal with the worst of weathers, keeping your weekly mileage up throughout the wet and cold winter months without taking away from your aero gains. Created with a dropped bottom bracket, the Caledonia maintains stability even when you're riding on larger tyres to keep your power optimised and you riding as efficiently as possible. The Caledonia also features a front derailleur mount that is easily removable allowing for a hassle free replacement when necessary and provides you with a simple way to swap to a 1x groupset if you'd prefer. This version of the Caledonia comes with a Shimano Ultegra groupset for crisp and swift shifting all day long as well as hydraulic disc brakes that ensure you can maintain control even if the weathers taken a turn for the worst, catching you out during your weekend sportive, keeping you well prepared for anything.
Caledonia doesn’t fit in a box nicely, and Cervélo like it that way. It was conceived on their Thursday night rides -routes that often play fast and loose with ‘road ride.’ As they tried to stuff bigger tyres into their R5s and streamline their Asperos, a new kind of bike was born, the Caledonia. Modern road riders are looking for bikes to handle long distance, high pace, no limits and offer maximum fun. By placing lower modulus carbon in key areas to mitigate the brittleness of hi-mod fiber—the bike isn’t delicate. It is made for the way you ride and accommodates 34mm tires or 31mm with fenders.
When Cervélo design a bike, they start with our library of tube shapes. These shapes are shapes they’ve used on other models that they know to have various qualities—aerodynamic, stiff, ultralight, etc.—and they help get Cervélo to the refinement stage on a bike more quickly. In the case of Caledonia, Cervélo wanted durability, light weight, and aerodynamics to be in balance, and selected a package that achieved the performance demands of this kind of race bike.
Inspired & Refiend
Caledonia uses a standard round bar, stem and seat post, giving riders the option to build their ultimate ride without compromise. Integrated accessory mounts and hidden fender mounts keep the bike’s refined lines so you can ride with lights and computers in a downpour and still look fast. Because we all know if it looks fast, it probably is.
