Cervélo has come a long way since their setup in 1995. After Phil and Gerard were approached by an Italian pro-cyclist in 1986, the vision was always to make the fastest possible time-trial bike. 24 years later, the vision is no different, the new P5 has been built from a completely re-designed mould that weighs in at just 1100g. Cervélo has also converted the P5 to a disc brake design. More reliable, more aerodynamic and better performing in all weathers and on all road surfaces, there's little not to like about the revolutionary disc brake. Cervélo has also taken on board the aerobar design that they knew was far from perfect on the former P5. The new "Speedriser" design removes the hassle of wires and cables in the headset spacers, making it fast and easy to make on-the-fly adjustments; all you need is a 4mm Allen key. This edition of the P5 has been finished with Shimano's Dura-Ace Di2 groupset, their best performing electronic groupset. As well as this, Enve's SES 5.6 wheelset are featured having also been updated from their predecessor, the 4.5. They're not only faster but now compatible with tubeless tyres from 23-28mm and provide better control in challenging crosswinds. The new P5 continues to propel Cervélo forwards into the future, all from a vision that began 31 years ago.
Enve SES 5.6 Wheelset
Enve have updated their wheelset from the 4.5 to the 5.6, designed for time-trial specialists, road racers and triathletes of all distances. The 5.6 edition are now tubeless compatible and are optimised for 25mm tyre sizes but are compatible with 23 and 28mm tyres. The updated edition is not only faster than its predecessor but better performing in challenging crosswinds.
Cervélo was aware that the aerobar design on the previous P5 was far from perfect. With many cables and wires passing through the headset spacers, it made adjusting the aerobar height a real pain. However, the new "speedriser" design taken from the P5X is now quick and easy to make on the go adjustments. All you need is a 4mm Allen key and you can make all the adjustments you need.
Shimano Dura-Ace Di2
Shimano's Dura-Ace Di2 is the company's best performing groupset. It was made to lead tour teams to tour victories and combines lightweight technology with aerodynamic efficiency. Disc brakes take care of reliability, stopping you faster and more efficiently than the traditional rim brake design as well as allowing you to be able to clear 28mm tyres and cause less risk of damage to your prized frame.
