The all-new Cervélo P5 is exactly that, all-new. Made from a completely redesigned mould, that weighs just 1100g, the P5 is ready to push the Triathlon and Time Trial market forwards into the future. The frame itself features a head tube that is 22% stiffer, a bottom bracket that is 26% stiffer and a total reduction of 18% in weight to the frameset. In Laymen's terms, this means the new P5 is incomparably faster, lighter and will save you more watts than its predecessor. The most noticeable difference that first hits the eyes is the disc brake design. Not only are disc brakes more aerodynamic, more reliable and more efficient than the traditional rim brake design, they have also allowed Cervélo to build the new P5 with a larger tyre clearance, that makes it compatible with 28mm tyres. Secondly, Cervélo's Speedriser aerobar design, originally made for the P5X, allows you to quickly adjust the aerobar. All you need is a 4mm Allen key. There are no longer any cables or wires passing through the headset spacers making it much easier to adjust on the go. Finally, Shimano's Ultegra Di2 8060 groupset provides smooth, reliable and lightweight componentry that isn't limited to constant charging or frequent replacement as the parts are built to last and perform at the highest level.
TECHNOLOGIES
Speedriser
The Speedriser, developed by Cervélo for the P5x, quickly and efficiently allows you to raise or lower the aero bar with a 4mm Allen key. This is a big move forwards from the old design which had cables and wires passing through the headset spacers making it a real pain to adjust. Now you can adjust on the go!
Bigger Tyre Clearance
Anyone who rode the previously designed P5 with Magura brakes will have known how little tyre clearance there was, limiting it only to 23 and 25mm tyres. If the weather got bad, the lack of clearance made for quick tyre rubbing and damage to the frame. However, thanks to the new disc brake design, the new P5 can now clear up to 28mm tyres meaning lower rolling resistance, more versatility and less damage to the frame.
