Specialized has desinged the new Diverge to be both fast and fun whether you're looking to smash it out the park at the local gravel race or simply to get away from the bussling towns and take a breather on the back trails. The Diverge has been created to be fast and responsivess as well as stable and sturdy on both the road and gravel, making your adventure options endless with what Specialized have deemed maybe their most playful bike made to date. The Diverge Expert has been created using a FACT 9r carbon frame to create an incredibly light weight base to work from, making the Diverge more race ready than ever before and you more certain to pick up the polka dot dirt climb jersey. One of the best features of the new Diverge is the integrated Future Shock 2.0 technology that has been built into the headset. This technology is revolutionary in the world of gravel riding, offering 20mm of axial compliance as well as hydraulic damper that works to suspend you, the rider, when the trail gets a little rougher, ensuring you'll never experience sore shoulders, neck or even hands ever again. This technology not only prevents unwanted tension in you but also boosts your control over the loose surface as well as maximizing your power output by taking away the need to break. Concerned about losing speed on the road? Well Future Shock 2.0 has been created to be adjustable meaning you can simply lock it out when necessary. When it comes to geometry, Specialized made the new Diverege more progressive than ever with dropped bars to allow for a more capable, stable ride when you're riding along the dirt whilst also increasing the Diverges nimble ability on the tarmac. The new Diverge also features a slacked head tube, increased offset at the fork and move frame reach to provide a more stable base riding in the gravel. Specialized has also fitted the Diverge Expert with the ability to carry everything you might need for a long adventure with plenty of rack mounts available on the Expert including top tube and fork mounts as well as internal SAWT storage. Specailizeds legendary SWAT door storage space offers you the option to store any repair tools, food or gilet you made need so you don't have to carry this weight on you. This design boosts the Diverge's stability and handling whilst allowing you to ride more efficiently. Finally, the Diverge Expert has been designed with the incredible ability to fit 47mm tyres with a 700c wheels or 2.1" with 650b wheels if that's your style or your looking to experiment with something new.
TECHNOLOGIES
Everything You Need
The new Diverge has a whopping 47mm of tyre clearance with a 700c wheel and 2.1” with a 650b wheel. Specailized have given the Diverge plenty of rack mounts, including fork and top tube mounts, to ensure you can take what you need, no matter how far you plan to go, or how long you plan to stay out. The Diverge not only has everything you need for pretty much any pedal-powered adventure—whether it's gravel racing, bikepacking, or weekend shredding—and does so at a frame weight that's close to today's high-end road bikes. Sure, you might be thinking more plaid flannel than Polka Dot Jersey, but you'll thank us on your next dirt climb.
The Geometry
You can think of the Diverge's geometry as a road version of a modern trail bike. It provides playful handling and predictable steering for endless dirt skids and mid-corner drifts, but keeps stiffness up to snuff for your inner-racer. Along with a bottom bracket that's over a half-centimetre lower than the previous Diverge, we also slacked-out the head tube angle, shortened the chainstays, and made a shorter wheelbase. The result? A bike that performs equally well over both the dirt and road.
Future Shock
There's only so much that wider tires with lower pressures can absorb when it comes to bumps, but this is where Specialized's Future Shock 2.0 comes into play. It not only soaks up bumps with ease, but it also adds the benefit of extremely predictable handling. That's because the wheelbase isn't lengthening when you hit a bump, so when you dive hard into a turn, you won't be surprised by under-steer or sloppy handling. The Diverge's version also gets a special treatment featuring a progressive spring that makes this technology more suitable for off-road applications, where stiffer suspension is often needed to soak-up larger bumps and obstacles.
