Specialized Diverge Pro Carbon Gravel Bike

Specialized has designed the new Diverge with high-performance versatility in mind. Whether you're looking to take it to the competition in gravel racing, backpack across Europe, or simply get out of towns and enjoy a long ride on and off-road this bike will amaze you at every opportunity. To make this possible, Specialized has developed several innovations to ensure the Diverge is a top performer in the gravel bike category. The most obvious of which is the integrated Future Shock 2.0 that has been built into the headset. This revolutionary technology offers 20mm of axial compliance as well as a hydraulic damper that works hard to give confidence by enabling the front wheel to retain traction on loose and uneven surfaces. It also reduces rider fatigue to ensure that even on the longest rides, on the most testing terrains you remain fresh. To ensure maximum power transfer when on smooth roads this feature can be locked out. When it comes to geometry, Specialized have torn up the rulebook and worked from the ground up. A slacker head tube, longer offset fork, and shorter stem combine to give a planted sense of stability, without changing the cockpit length or sacrificing the lively handling. With SWAT storage inside the down tube and plenty of rack mounts, no matter how far you plan to go, you can carry everything you will need.
The Diverge Pro Carbon is the second lightest Diverge in the range, only the S-Works is lighter. With a FACT 9r carbon frame as its base, it is finished off with the incredibly lightweight Terra CL carbon wheelset from Roval, and SRAM Force AXS eTap groupset with SRAMs Orbit fluid clutch. The 1x12 Eagle setup offers a huge range of gears, flawless electronic shifting and a simple wireless setup.

Everything You Need

The new Diverge has a whopping 47mm of tyre clearance with a 700c wheel and 2.1” with a 650b wheel. Specailized have given the Diverge plenty of rack mounts, including fork and top tube mounts, to ensure you can take what you need, no matter how far you plan to go, or how long you plan to stay out. The Diverge not only has everything you need for pretty much any pedal-powered adventure—whether it's gravel racing, bikepacking, or weekend shredding—and does so at a frame weight that's close to today's high-end road bikes. Sure, you might be thinking more plaid flannel than Polka Dot Jersey, but you'll thank us on your next dirt climb.

The Geometry

You can think of the Diverge's geometry as a road version of a modern trail bike. It provides playful handling and predictable steering for endless dirt skids and mid-corner drifts, but keeps stiffness up to snuff for your inner-racer. Along with a bottom bracket that's over a half-centimetre lower than the previous Diverge, we also slacked-out the head tube angle, shortened the chainstays, and made a shorter wheelbase. The result? A bike that performs equally well over both the dirt and road.

Future Shock

There's only so much that wider tires with lower pressures can absorb when it comes to bumps, but this is where Specialized's Future Shock 2.0 comes into play. It not only soaks up bumps with ease, but it also adds the benefit of extremely predictable handling. That's because the wheelbase isn't lengthening when you hit a bump, so when you dive hard into a turn, you won't be surprised by under-steer or sloppy handling. The Diverge's version also gets a special treatment featuring a progressive spring that makes this technology more suitable for off-road applications, where stiffer suspension is often needed to soak-up larger bumps and obstacles
