Specialized Diverge Sport Disc Gravel Bike

Specialized has designed their Diverge Sport to be ready for any adventure, be that on the road, along a gravel path or a bit of both, the Diverge can handle it all. The Diverge Sport features Specialized FACT 9r carbon frame to make for a lightweight and durable riding base to get your journey started out on the trails. As for the Geometry on the Diverge, this has been created to feel much more like a road version of a modern trail bike than anything else, providing you with a playful and responsive handling feel that still has predictable steering so you can stay in control whilst performing mid-corner drifts and dirt skids around the tracks you choose to travel along. Specialized altered the design of the Diverge, with the new version featuring a bottom bracket that is half a centimetre lower than on the previous Diverge model as well as including the following changing too; a slacked-out head tube angle, shortened chainstays and a shorter wheelbase to allow for a gravel bike that can perform equally on the tarmac roads as it does on the gravel trails. This model of the Diverge has been fitted with a full Shimano 105 11-speed groupset to provide you with crisp and clean gear shifting when you're riding through any and all the seasons. To make your trail adventure more comfortable, the Diverge has been equipped with Future Shock technology that absorbs the bumps along the path as you ride, reducing fatigue that otherwise occurs from this form of wasted energy. Hydraulic disc brakes are also fitted to the Diverge Sport to ensure you have sharp and reliable braking in all weather conditions. And finally, the Diverge is equipped with DT R470 Disc wheels wrapped with 700x38mm Pathfinder Sport tyres for a durable and strong overall performance.

The Geometry

You can think of the Diverge's geometry as a road version of a modern trail bike. It provides playful handling and predictable steering for endless dirt skids and mid-corner drifts, but keeps stiffness up to snuff for your inner-racer. Along with a bottom bracket that's over a half-centimetre lower than the previous Diverge, we also slacked-out the head tube angle, shortened the chainstays, and made a shorter wheelbase. The result? A bike that performs equally well over both the dirt and road.

Everything You Need

Clearance for either 700x42mm or 650b x 47mm tires? Check. Three water bottle mounts, mounts for racks and fenders, and our Road SWAT™ kit. The Diverge not only has everything you need for pretty much any pedal-powered adventure—whether it's gravel racing, bikepacking, or weekend shredding—and does so at a frame weight that's close to today's high-end road bikes. Sure, you might be thinking more plaid flannel than Polka Dot Jersey, but you'll thank us on your next dirt climb.

Future Shock

There's only so much that wider tires with lower pressures can absorb when it comes to bumps, but this is where Specialized's Future Shock comes into play. It not only soaks up bumps with ease, but it also adds the benefit of extremely predictable handling. That's because the wheelbase isn't lengthening when you hit a bump, so when you dive hard into a turn, you won't be surprised by under-steer or sloppy handling. The Diverge's version also gets a special treatment featuring a progressive spring that makes this technology more suitable for off-road applications, where stiffer suspension is often needed to soak-up larger bumps and obstacles.
