Specialized has designed the Roubaix Sport to be fast yet comfortable to make riding even more enjoyable and racing even more thrilling. The Roubaix features Specialized's FACT 9r carbon fibre frame that's lightweight but also provides a strong, stiff base to allow you to push the power through the pedals when it comes to it. Using Specialized's Rider-First Engineered™ construction, the Roubaix Sport has been designed to fit you better with a more unique geometry, specific to each frame-size and therefore tailored better to each rider, providing you with a more comfortable ride. To further keep your comfort optimised, Specialized has included their Future Shock technology in the Roubaix Sport which gives you 20mm of travel within the headtube in-order to absorb the cobbles and many bumps along the road, creating a smoother, more agile overall riding feel. Not only does the Future Shock make for a more comfortable ride but it also improves your overall speed due to the effect it has on your vertical compliance, increasing rolling efficiency. The Roubaix Sport is also equipped with a Shimano 105 groupset to provide you with shifting that's not only swift but is also reliable. Specialized also included hydraulic disc brakes that allow you to have superior control at all times, especially in wet weather conditions. Finally, the Roubaix Sport is fitted with DT R470 Disc wheels along with Turbo Pro 28mm tyres to finish off your ride.
The Frame & Feel
The lightweight frame has been constructed from Specialized's FACT 9r carbon fibre. Its stiffness levels are also off the charts and compared to the SL4 iteration of yesteryear, you'll experience a whole new, faster, and more efficient geometry. Through some sophisticated engineering, however, Specialized has managed to keep the same fit, feel, and position that everyone's come to love from the SL4, and kept it consistent throughout the size-range with Specialized's Rider-First Engineered™ construction.
The Roubaix features Specialized's Future Shock which is essentially a piston in the head tube with 20mm of travel. Specialized has developed this technology in partnership with McLaren Applied Technologies, and the result of this is a host of drastic performance improvements, namely in the vertical compliance department. Specialized found that focusing on vertical compliance, instead of fork splay, meant that they could improve smoothness, speed, and comfort in one fell swoop. And of all the bikes that Specialized has tested with their Rolling Efficiency Model, the Roubaix outperforms anything on the market.
