This year, Specialized have upped their game, bringing you a brand new Tarmac frameset that's a whole 45 seconds faster over a 40-kilometre stretch and is 20% lighter. How? The new SL6 has improved aerodynamics to make this Tarmac fast anywhere! Hilly rides? Sorted. Battling strong headwinds? A breeze. Local club events or Grand tour stages, the Tarmac's got it handled. Specialized has taken the time to research how to make these changes possible by developing three areas; a new fork shape, a D-shaped seatpost and seat tube along with dropped seatstays with aero tubes. With Specialized's Rider-First Engineered™ components, there are 500 pieces to make 7 different sizes for the same tuned ride so that each frame ends up with a unique layup to allow you the perfect ride. Updated geometry now means that the Tarmac SL6 has a great combination of a responsive front-end and short wheelbase in order to provide you with an instantaneous response and optimal power transfer when riding. To further your comfort, Specialized has added a seatpost with flex built into the top 120mm so clamping doesn't happen. Finally, Specialized has included dropped seatstays along with an altered seat tube shape and a new tyre clearance of up to 30mm.
Aerodynamics is the most important thing Specialized can do to make you faster, but with the Tarmac, they added aero features without any cost to weight. Through development, three areas were discovered where Specialized could add aero for free—a new fork shape, dropped seatstays with aero tubes, and a D-shaped seatpost and seat tube.
The updated geometry is based on countless Retül data points and professional rider input. This enabled Specialized to develop a Performance Road Geometry that perfects the combination of a responsive front-end and short wheelbase, which delivers instantaneous response and optimal power transfer.
