Specialized S-Works Tarmac SL7 Disc Road Frameset

The new and yet again improved Tarmac better than ever before, and that's not just anecdotally - Specialized can back it up with data.  Designed with a hunger for racing, the S-Works Tarmac SL7 frameset tips the scales at an overall weight of just 800 grams meaning you'll be floating up the most gruelling of climbs as well as descending at an equally astonishing pace thanks to Specialized's new aero features. The philosophy of this Tarmac is to offer you everything, lightweight and aero! Specialized are well known for their innovation when it comes to aerodynamics, working hard to find the most daring of tube shapes that can scrape within the UCI rulebook. This Tarmac is no exception. They decided to draw inspiration from the Venge and bring key elements across into developing their newest FreeFoil Shape. The results are remarkable, making the Tarmac now a measurable 45 seconds faster over 40kms than the SL6. While aerodynamics are a big part of what Specialized preach, for the S-Works Tarmac they ensured these aero results did not come at the cost of overall weight, keeping the SL7 super light as well as providing a stiff base for pushing some serious power as effectively and efficiently as possible. The Tarmac SL7 also features Specialized's Rider-First Engineered™ technology to ensure you have top quality handling, designed from a wealthy library of knowledge when it comes to rider geometry and set up. Finally, Specialized innovated further to make sure the Tarmac was easy to travel with and service, designing a more simple integration system at the cockpit.

Faster & More Aerodynamic

"Aero is everything”- Specailized has been preaching it for years and it’s still the driving force for the new Tarmac. In their quest for tube shapes that deliver the fastest frame that the UCI rules allow, Specialized took a page out of the Venge development book and utilized their FreeFoil Shape Library. Armed with a library of optimized shapes, they turned to the Win Tunnel to plug these shapes into a modular test bike, for more testing and validation. The result? A new Tarmac that’s the fastest Specilized has tested—45 seconds faster over 40km than the Tarmac SL6. No compromises, just pure speed.

Super Light In Weight

While aerodynamics were paramount to the Tarmac’s development, and to the development of all of Specialized's race bikes, weight was the co-pilot on this optimal race bike journey. Previously “aero bikes” always compromised in the weight department—the more drag you reduced, the more weight you gained. With the new Tarmac, Specialized's design philosophy was to keep it at, or below, the UCI weight limit out of the box, with no sacrifices to aerodynamics. And with the help of the FreeFoil Shape Library, tools like isotopic FEA analysis, and some engineering wizardry by the best engineers in the industry, Specialized delivered a frame that weighs a mere 800 grams, without giving up a gram of aero, stiffness or ride quality.
