The new Specialized Stumpjumper EVO may look, on paper, like a less radical or less extreme version of its predecessor, but once you look past the paper it reveals itself to be far superior by offering more performance than ever. Having created quite a stir for its super slack head angle and low bottom bracket when it was originally launched the EVO version of the Stumpjumper is now loved the world over. The only thing holding back the original version was the limited size availability. Specialized have addressed this in the new version with a full range of sizes developed through their Rider-First geometry philosophy. In addition to there being more sizes, this version of the Stumpjumper EVO also has more adjustability. The bike comes as standard with 29-inch wheels, but a mixed setup with a 27.5 rear is an option if desired. Further adjustability is available with an adjustable bottom bracket height and even an adjustable headset angle. With 160mm of travel provided from the Fox Float 36 Rhythm on the front, and 150mm of Fox Float X Performance travel at the rear, this version of the EVO ensures you have everything you need to tackle whatever the terrain can throw at you. The Stumpjumper EVO Comp is dressed with SRAM Eagle 1x12 componentry, so there is a massive range of gears available, all with crisp and reliable shifting. Finally, tubeless-ready wheels and tyres complete the bike and provide you with confidence that a flat won't ruin your ride. In the event you do need some maintenance on the go, all the tools and spares required can be stored inside the frame thanks to the innovative SWOT storage solution.
Rider First Engineered
Rider-First Engineered frames use a size-specific approach to ride characteristics that ensures benchmark handling and flawless performance, regardless of frame or rider size. Whether you’re a jump-happy grom riding an S1, or a DH-fiend giant in need of the lengthy S6, you’ll experience the same ride traits – rail-sharp cornering and balanced front and rear stiffness – at the lightest possible weight.
Specialized introduced the SWAT door on the Stumpjumper in 2016, adding room IN your frame for those “oh sh**t” necessities like pumps and spare tubes, and immediately rendering jersey pockets redundant. With the new Stumpjumper, Specialized have increased the volume and added a SWAT Bladder, giving you an extra 22oz of water storage – the same size as a small water bottle – hidden in your downtube.
Perfectly Dialled Suspension
All the travel in the world is useless without the proper shock tuning and kinematics. For the new Stumpjumper EVO design, Specialized prioritized kinematic performance. Applying lessons learned while developing the Enduro, then following that with more than 1,000 hours of field and suspension lab development, they've not only improved the pedaling performance of the Stumpjumper, but they've also made it more capable, agile, and lively. They increased anti-squat, so the suspension better resists pedal bob, and further improved bump performance on square-edge hits. Bottom line? This thing shreds trails, not legs
